CH-10B is a monitoring site where water level and barometric pressure are monitored using a pressure transducer and barometer, respectively. These data are recorded on a datalogger every 15 minutes, and the data are transmitted via satellite to NWIS, our national database. CH-10B was drilled by the USGS in 1983 to investigate the hydrothermal system in the southeast moat of Long Valley Caldera. Since 1987, well CH-10B also has been used to monitor pressure changes in the thermal aquifer that could result from pumping geothermal fluid for power production at Casa Diablo and from crustal unrest. | |
