Photo Information

View north from atop Mammoth Mountain, California
Photograph by S.R. Brantley on August 2, 1998

View is from atop Mammoth Mountain toward the north. Facilities of the Mammoth Mountain ski area can be seen in the bottom of the photo. Deer Mountain is the prominent cone just right of middle center; the Inyo flows are just to the left of Deer Mountain. The steep slope cutting across the photo just above Deer Mountain is the northern rim of Long Valley Caldera. Beyond the Inyo flows, the Mono Craters form a prominent ridge that extends to Mono Lake.
