Updates for the week of July 18-24, 2005

The realtime computer system detected and located five small earthquakes in the vicinity of Long Valley caldera since the last update at 11:50 AM on the 17th. All were located in the Sierra Nevada south of the caldera, and all had magnitudes M<2.

Updated at 9:30 AM (PDT) on Tuesday, July 19, 2005:

The realtime computer system detected and located six small earthquakes in the vicinity of Long Valley caldera since the last update at 9:30 AM on the 18th. Five were located in the Sierra Nevada south of the caldera, all with magnitudes M<2. The 6th earthquake, which occurred at 5:02 AM on the 19th, was located at a depth of 7 km beneath the west flank of Mammoth Mountain (4 miles west of Mammoth Lakes). This earthquake had a magnitude of M=1.4.

The realtime computer system detected and located four small earthquakes in the vicinity of Long Valley caldera since the last update at 9:30 AM on the 19th. All were located in the Sierra Nevada south of the caldera. The largest was a M=2.9 earthquake at 9:42 on the 19th located beneath McGee Creek 2 miles ESE of Mount Baldwin (8 miles WSW of Tom's Place).

Updated at 9:30 AM (PDT) on Thursday, July 21, 2005:

The realtime computer system detected and located seven small earthquakes in the vicinity of Long Valley caldera since the last update at 9:30 AM on the 20th. Six were located in the Sierra Nevada south of the caldera, all with magnitudes M<2. The seventh was a M=1.2 earthquake beneath the west flank of Mammoth Mountain at 2:54 AM on the 21st.

The realtime computer system detected and located just one earthquake in the vicinity of Long Valley caldera since the last update at 9:30 AM on the 21st. This was a M=1.3 earthquake at 10:56 AM on the 21st located in the Sierra Nevada 9 miles west of Tom's Place.

Updated at 11:20 AM (PDT) on Sunday, July 24, 2005:

The realtime computer system detected and located six small earthquakes in the vicinity of Long Valley caldera since the last update at 9:15 AM on the 22nd. Five were located in the Sierra Nevada south of the caldera, all of which had magnitudes M<2.0. The sixth was located beneath the southern margin of the resrugent dome 7 miles east of Mammoth Lakes. This was a M=1.0 earthquake at 1:17 PM on the 23rd.
