SF is located on the resurgent dome, and was constructed as a water-supply well for the drilling of the nearby Long Valley Exploration Well (LVEW), which was drilled for scientific purposes. Water-level is monitored using a pressure transducer. These data are recorded on a datalogger every 30 minutes, and the data are transmitted via satellite to NWIS, our national database.
